We have been in PGN (basically Guatemala's Attorney General's office)for 10 weeks, with zero news. An adoption case must be reviewed and signed off on by 2 reviewers, and then must be reviewed and signed off on by the Director of PGN, Sr. Barrios. (This is all after the U.S. Dept. of State reviewed and approved all our documents, which took them over 2 months.)
Our agency kept saying "No news is good news." Most "previos," aka "kick-outs" or "KOs," happen in the first few weeks of PGN, usually from the 2nd reviewer. We got past the first two reviewers, and today found out we have a KO from the Director himself. He wants a certificate from the Civil Registry Office stating that Daniel's birthmother isn't married. (They don't allow adoptions if the child's birthmother is married.) Our agency has never seen PGN ask for such a thing.
We are bummed; we've been expecting "THE CALL" from our agency that we are out of PGN, which signals the beginning of the end of the process. Our facilitator (the woman who works with the attorney) says they can probably get this within a week, and then re-submit us. At first, this sounded like a minor glitch. But we just found out from our agency that when we're re-submitted, we have to START ALL OVER AGAIN in PGN, with reviewer #1, and it takes an average of 8 weeks from that point to get out, and then another 4-6 weeks before we can bring Daniel home. If this goes into next year, it might be delayed further, since we don't know exactly how the new law will affect us. Please pray.

Sorry to hear of your previo...keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a fast fix and you do get that "call".
I am sick for you guys. Let's just pray that you get it fixed quickly and then they put you in the FAST pile and things go smoothly and in record time.
Enjoy your trip. Post lots of pictures! Seeing other's pictures, gets me through!
