Hello from Guatemala - Visit Trip #4

Hi, everyone. Eric and I arrived in Guatemala about 6:30 yesterday morning, and Daniel's foster mom Rosa brought him to us at 10:00. She said he is very attached to her and clingy (pretty normal for a 9-month-old), and to expect him to cry and push us away a lot. So we were prepared for a difficult time. But Danny has surprised us by being SO OK with us! He turns his head or cries when other people come up and talk to him, but he knows the difference between us and everyone else. He wants us to hold him a lot, which is of course fine with us! He even did fine during the night. Tonight he was all about Daddy - Kept wanting to be held by Dad, and only Dad could get him to go to sleep. We think these visit trips are really going to help Daniel adjust when we finally get to bring him home.

On our last visit, Danny had two bottom teeth. Now he also has two top teeth, and we see three more teeth starting to come in. He's eating like a horse, so I expect he's gaining some weight. We have to remember to take him to the gym and weigh him. His hair is also getting really long. We kind of want to cut some of it because it keeps getting in his eyes, but are too afraid to attempt a haircut with cuticle scissors!

Daniel is even more fun on this trip than the last one. He smiles and laughs a LOT. He likes to play. Grandma Jeanie bought him a little rubber ball with Mickey Mouse inside it, and it has gold glitter inside that swirls around like a snow globe. Danny thinks this ball is the COOLEST thing he's ever seen! We play "catch" with him - we bounce and roll the ball to him, and he throws it back to us - and he laughs his head off. He also likes when we stack some blocks so he can knock them over. We are having the best time with him! I can't seem to find the cord to transfer pictures from the camera to the laptop, so you'll probably have to wait till we get home (Tues.) to see photos. Sorry!

I'll try to post more later. In the meantime, I'm going to go watch my little boy sleep!
